In Death City, Soul Eater follows the Death Weapon Meister Academy (DWMA), where meisters and human weapons train together to create Death Scythes worthy of Lord Death. To earn that rank, a team must collect 99 evil souls and one witch soul, turning every mission into a dangerous trial of skill, restraint, and trust. Shibusen's students are thrown into battles with monsters, witches, and their own flaws, and even the strongest partnership can fail if a meister and weapon cannot move as one.
At the center of the story are Soul Eater Evans and Maka Albarn, whose uneasy bond is tested as they learn to fight in sync and rely on each other under pressure. They are joined by the reckless Black☆Star and his weapon Tsubaki, along with Death the Kid, a perfectionist fighter wielding the twin pistols Patty and Liz. Across its battles, Soul Eater blends dark fantasy, comedy, and action into a world shaped by discipline, loyalty, and the constant struggle to keep body, mind, and soul in balance.
