Biography

Dancing Dolls!! is a Japanese girl group formed in Osaka by childhood friends. The group built its identity around singing, dancing, and self-made performance work, with the members writing and composing their own songs while Misaki handled the choreography. The lineup consists of Hono (vocal & dance), Mii (main vocal & dance), Misaki (vocal, rap, dance & choreography), Asuka (dance & chorus), and Kyoka (dance & chorus). The group first gained attention through street performances in Osaka Castle Park, a well-known space for live street acts in the city. From there, Dancing Dolls!! also began uploading dance covers to Nico Nico Douga and YouTube, where their videos attracted a growing audience and reached more than 10 million views by the time of their professional debut in 2012. That early online visibility helped establish them as a young J-pop act with a strong dance-focused image. Dancing Dolls!! were later signed by Sony Music Entertainment Japan and made their major debut on September 12, 2012 with the single "Touch -A.S.A.P.- / Shanghai Darling". At the time of the release, the group’s average age was 16. The single reached No. 38 on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart, while the CD single was preceded by "Shanghai Darling", released digitally on August 1 and peaking at No. 8 on the daily Recochoku chart. Their debut release also connected the group to anime music through "Touch -A.S.A.P.-", a cover of the theme song from the anime Touch, originally sung by Yoshimi Iwasaki and released as a single in 1985. That link to anime, combined with their vocal and dance-driven style, made Dancing Dolls!! a notable name for listeners searching for Japanese pop artists with an anison connection.
