Information We Collect

Openingpedia collects limited information to improve your experience:

  • Theme preferences (light/dark)
  • Local playback history
  • Searches performed (not permanently stored)
  • Approximate country (derived from your IP address via a third-party geolocation service), only to decide whether to show affiliate content (e.g. Amazon products) in your region. We do not store your IP; we only store the country code in a cookie (OP_COUNTRY) for 24 hours.

Use of Information

We use the collected information to:

User Account and Google OAuth

Openingpedia offers an optional account system. If you choose to create an account, we use Google authentication (OAuth 2.0) only. We do not store passwords.

  • Google identifier (internal ID, not shared)
  • Email address
  • Username (editable by you)
  • Profile photo URL (provided by Google)
  • Songs, artists and animes marked as favorites
  • Custom playlists

Legal basis and consent

Account data processing is based on the explicit consent you give by checking the box during sign-in. You can withdraw this consent at any time by deleting your account from the profile page.

Account deletion

You can permanently delete your account from your profile. When you do, we anonymize your data (email, name, Google identifier) and delete your favorites and playlists.

Access by authorized personnel

Openingpedia administrative staff (ADMIN role) may access your favorites and playlists exclusively for the following operational purposes: providing support when you request it, moderating inappropriate content (e.g. playlist names that violate our rules), and diagnosing technical issues affecting your account.

  • These accesses are role-restricted — only authorized administrators can perform them.
  • They are logged (audit log) with the date, the action performed, and the administrator who performed it.
  • They do not imply commercial use or transfer to third parties of the data accessed.

The legal basis for these accesses is the legitimate interest of the controller (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)) in maintaining the security and operation of the service, balanced against your rights.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request data deletion
  • Withdraw consent at any time

Openingpedia is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.

This means that when you click on an Amazon product link within Openingpedia and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you.

Affiliate links do not influence Openingpedia's editorial content or recommendations. Product opinions and selections are independent.
