Yui Makino is a Japanese singer, seiyuu, and pianist from Tsu, Japan, born on January 19, 1986. She began playing piano at the age of four, and film director Shunji Iwai noticed her talent when she was seven. From ages eight to seventeen, she performed piano solos for three of Iwai's films, including Love Letter, building the classical foundation that later shaped her work as a vocalist.
Makino is also known to anime fans for voicing Misaki Nakahara in Welcome to the N.H.K!, a role that earned her a Best Young Seiyuu nomination. Her music work includes the ending theme for the Wii game Arc Rise Fantasia, which she composed herself, and she has released music through Victor Entertainment. A graduate of Tokyo College of Music, she was affiliated with AMUSE from 2012 after leaving BGB Company. She has also appeared at events such as Japan Expo in France and the New York Anime Festival, worked in films and television dramas, married singer Yuutarou Miura on June 12, 2020, and in 2026 coverage noted her 20th year as a singer.
