UNISON SQUARE GARDEN

UNISON SQUARE GARDEN is a Japanese three-piece rock band formed on July 24, 2004. The group consists of Kosuke Saito on vocals and guitar, Tomoya Tabuchi on bass and chorus, and Takao Suzuki on drums and chorus. Saito invited Tabuchi and Suzuki, his former high-school bandmates, to form the band. They first played together under the name ユニゾン, then adopted the name UNISON SQUARE GARDEN on September 25, 2004. After releasing the demo CDs "流星行路" and "Sentimental Period" in 2005, the band worked through UK PROJECT and later signed to Toy's Factory. Its major-label debut came on July 23, 2008, with the re-release of "Sentimental Period". Early on, the band's sound developed around an electropop-tinged approach. It later moved toward a sharper, guitar-driven rock style, while keeping brisk tempos, precise arrangements, clean instrumentation, and melodic songwriting central to its work. The first album, "UNISON SQUARE GARDEN", was released in 2009. In 2011, the single "Orion wo nazoru (オリオンをなぞる)" became the band's first release to sell more than 10,000 copies. Later milestones included the album "CIDER ROAD" in 2013. In 2015, the band reached its tenth anniversary with the album "DUGOUT ACCIDENT" and its first Nippon Budokan concert. The 2023 album "Ninth Peel" gave the group its first No. 1 on both Oricon and Billboard Japan. UNISON SQUARE GARDEN has also maintained a long presence in anime music. Its songs include "Orion wo nazoru (オリオンをなぞる)" for "Tiger & Bunny", "Sugar Song to Bitter Step (シュガーソングとビターステップ)" and "fake town baby" for "Kekkai Sensen", and themes for "Ballroom e Youkoso", "Blue Lock", "Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru", "Kamonohashi Ron no Kindan Suiri", and "Yozakura Quartet".
