Sumire Uesaka

Due to her interest in Russia, she is affectionately known by the nickname Sumipe (すみぺ, as the letter R resembles a P in the Cyrillic Alphabet). Other nicknames include Suminya (スミーニャ), because she enjoys wearing nekomimi accessories, and Gundanchou (軍団長, Corps Commander) due to her fascination with the military, especially tanks, and her radio show. At the age of eight, Uesaka was scouted by Space Craft Junior Commercial Talent right after she was returning home from an EIKEN Test in Practical English Proficiency. She later appeared in a Japanese Vidal Sassoon commercial. In 2009, she participated in the Web Radio@Dengeki Bunko web radio, where she became a regular from September 2009 to December 2011. During her time there, she aimed to bring her work to life, which inspired her to pursue a career as a voice actress. Another inspiration was voice actress Momoi Haruko, whom she admired after accidentally watching Nurse Witch Komugi-chan Magikarte during her elementary school years. Uesaka described this experience as shocking, as it was the first time she heard Momoi's voice and it ignited her desire to become a voice actress. In April 2011, she joined the anime section of Space Craft Entertainment. Starting October 7, 2011, she became a radio personality on A&G NEXT GENERATION Lady Go!!. Following an announcement on August 12 of the same year at the Summer Comic Market 80, it was revealed that she had been cast in the 2012 TV anime series Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai!. In January 2012, she made her debut as a voice actress, voicing the heroine Takanashi Sora. Later, Matsu Tomohiro, the original author, and Kawasaki Itsurou, the director, stated that she was chosen at the audition despite some technical flaws because they couldn't imagine anyone else as Sora.
