UVERworld (stylized as UVERworld) is a Japanese rock band known for combining powerful vocals, melodic hooks, and a polished band sound that has made them a recurring name in anime music. The group currently consists of six members, and their career began in 2003 with seven members under the name Sound Goku Road, also written as Sangoku Road in the independent music scene.
Their early demo CDs reportedly sold 3,000 copies, and after that period two members from the original lineup, Seika on saxophone and Ryouhei on second vocal, left the band. In 2005, UVERworld signed with Gr8! Records and broke through with "D-tecnoLife," the second opening theme for Bleach, which debuted at No. 4 on the Oricon charts. That success established them as one of the most recognizable rock acts associated with anime openings.
The band followed that breakthrough with their first album, Timeless, which included the return of former saxophonist Seika on track 5. Around the same period, their highest-charting song was "Colors of the Heart," the third opening theme for Blood+, which reached No. 3 on the Oricon charts. Their discography continued with the 2007 album Bugright and the 2008 album Proglution, followed by more releases after that.
As of 2015, UVERworld had released over 25 singles and 8 studio albums. The members are Takuya on vocals, programming, and chorus; Katsuya on guitar, chorus, and programming; Nobuto (信人) on bass and chorus; Seika (誠果) on manipulator, saxophone, and chorus; Akira on guitar, chorus, and programming; and Shintarou (真太郎) on drums.
