Mobile Suit Gundam 00

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 unfolds in A.D. 2307, after Earth has depleted its fossil fuels and turned to solar energy as its next major power source. Three orbital elevators with solar power generation systems dominate the planet's economy and politics, each controlled by one of the great blocs: the Union, formerly the United States of America; the Human Reformist Alliance, made up of Russia, China, and India; and the AEU in Europe. Because not all nations share equally in that system, resentment hardens into armed conflict. Into that imbalance steps Celestial Being, a mysterious non-profit military organization that seeks to end all warfare by intervening with advanced Mobile Suits called Gundam. At the center of the conflict are the Gundam Meisters, the pilots Setsuna F. Seiei, Lockon Stratos, Allelujah Haptism, and Tieria Erde, whose missions place them between the three superpowers and the many factions shaped by their rivalry. Their campaign draws in allies and observers such as tactician Sumeragi Lee Noriega and Haro, while rivals like Graham Aker confront the meaning of Celestial Being's armed intervention. As battles spread from Earth to orbit, the series follows both the geopolitical consequences of that mission and the personal strain placed on the pilots who try to end war through overwhelming force.
