Biography

STEREOPONY was a Japanese rock band formed in Okinawa in 2007. The group consisted of vocalist Aimi, guitarist Nohana, and drummer Shiho, and became known for energetic rock songs with a clear pop sensibility. The band first drew attention through the Japanese radio program School of Lock!, which helped bring them to a wider audience before their major-label breakthrough. Their early releases quickly established them as a rising name in Japan’s rock scene, and their debut single reached the Oricon Weekly Charts. STEREOPONY is especially remembered by anime fans for its theme songs. "Hitohira no Hanabira" was used as the 17th ending theme for Bleach, while "Namida no Mukou" served as the second opening theme for the second season of Mobile Suit Gundam 00. They also collaborated with Yui on "I do it," further linking the band to the broader J-pop and anime music landscape. Their first album, Hydrangea ga Saiteiru, was released in 2009 and reached No. 7 on the Oricon Weekly Charts. The band later disbanded in 2012, but its anime tie-ins and compact discography continue to make STEREOPONY a notable name in Japanese rock and anison history.
