In Fire Force, a world plagued by Spontaneous Human Combustion is thrown into chaos when ordinary people suddenly transform into flaming, violent beings known as Infernals. Those victims form the first generation of the phenomenon, while second- and third-generation pyrokinetics can generate and control flame without losing their humanity. To confront the crisis and uncover its cause, the Tokyo Armed Forces, the Fire Defense Agency, and the Holy Church of Sol created the Special Fire Force, a set of brigades sworn to extinguish the Infernals and lay their souls to rest.
One of those brigades is Company 8, where young third-generation pyrokinetic Shinra Kusakabe joins the fight. Nicknamed Devil's Footprints for his explosive ability to ignite his feet at will, Shinra is determined to become a hero and protect the lives threatened by flame terror. But the work is far from simple: the Fire Force is a fractured mess of feuding brigades, abnormal Infernal sightings are rising all over Tokyo, and a shadowy group claims to have answers about the strange fire that killed Shinra's family 12 years ago. Caught between internal conflict and external danger, Shinra keeps chasing the truth behind the burning mysteries that have kept him in the dark.
