Beastars unfolds in a society of anthropomorphic animals where carnivores and herbivores live under a fragile peace shaped by prejudice, instinct, and fear. At Cherryton Academy, those tensions sharpen after Tem, an alpaca in the drama club, is killed in a predation incident. The murder leaves the school on edge and pulls Legoshi, a grey wolf in the stage crew, deeper into the suspicion he has faced all his life because of what he is. Quiet by nature, he still struggles to hide the traits that make others uneasy. Louis, a red deer and the domineering star actor of the drama club, adds even more pressure as he drives the group toward its next performance and tests Legoshi's loyalty.
As Legoshi's bond with Haru, a white dwarf rabbit scorned by her peers, deepens, he is forced to confront his predatory instincts and the uneasy line between attraction, violence, and self-control. Beyond the school, Beastars widens that conflict through figures such as Juno and the panda Gouhin, showing how every relationship is shaped by fear, desire, social rank, and the need to choose what kind of person to become. Through school drama, personal conflict, and the harsher forces surrounding Cherryton, the series follows Legoshi, Louis, Haru, and those around them as they try to define themselves in a divided world.
