Aria unfolds in Neo Venezia, a tranquil city on the planet Aqua, formerly Mars, in the 24th century after humanity learns to make the previously uninhabitable world livable. Despite its futuristic setting, the city preserves the rustic charm of Venice on Manhome, the planet formerly known as Earth. Wide canals, waterways, and gondolas define daily life, and the city is almost a faithful recreation of Venice itself.
To help residents and visitors experience its beauty, gondola tour companies have become an essential part of Neo Venezia, and one of the most respected is Aria Company. There, Akari Mizunashi, a free-spirited teenager from Manhome, begins her life as a novice Undine, the name given to gondola guides.
As Akari trains alongside other Undine, meets tourists and local residents, and grows familiar with the rhythm of Neo Venezia, Aria focuses on quiet encounters, gentle humor, and the small wonders of everyday life. Through her work and the people she meets, Akari discovers lessons about kindness, perseverance, and the meaning of manmade miracles.
