In NHK ni Youkoso!, twenty-two-year-old college dropout Tatsuhiro Satou has spent nearly four years cut off from the outside world as a hikikomori, living alone in a cramped apartment where each day slips between routine, paranoia, and conspiracy thinking. He becomes convinced that his isolation is being fed by the Nihon Hikikomori Kyokai, or NHK, a supposed shadow organization that he believes manipulates reclusive people like himself. For Tatsuhiro, even the smallest step beyond his room turns into a fight against fear, shame, and the habits he has built to keep society at a distance.
That fragile routine starts to shift when he meets Misaki Nakahara, an enigmatic young woman who offers to help him confront his isolation and reclaim his future. As Tatsuhiro moves through job hunting, social anxiety, and the mess of his own self-destructive beliefs, the two form an uneasy connection that slowly pushes him toward the possibility of reintegration. Blending psychological drama with dark comedy, NHK ni Youkoso! follows a painfully honest struggle to step outside, trust other people, and survive the pressure of modern life without losing sight of how hard that process can be.
