Shoko Nakagawa

Shoko Nakagawa, also known as Shokotan (しょこたん), is a Japanese singer, idol, tarento, actress, seiyuu, and illustrator from Nakano, Tokyo. Born on May 5, 1985, she has worked across pop music, television, voice acting, and visual art since childhood. Her real name is 翔子. Nakagawa is the daughter of Katsuhiko Nakagawa, a Japanese celebrity from the 1980s, and her public persona has long been associated with humor and openly expressed pop-culture and otaku interests. Nakagawa gained early internet visibility through the blog "しょこたん☆ぶろぐ," which she started in November 2004, and made her singer debut in 2006 through Sony Music Records. Her music spans J-pop, pop, and rock, and a large part of her recording career has been tied to anime songs, including "Sorairo Days (空色デイズ)," the opening theme of "Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann." She is also known on television as the presenter of Pokémon Sunday. In 2025, she contributed the opening song for I'm Living with an Otaku NEET Kunoichi!?; in 2026, she was announced to sing the ending theme for The Classroom of the Black Cat and a Witch Cour 2 and to narrate a Junji Ito audio drama vinyl project alongside Poppy.
