Uchuu Kyoudai

Uchuu Kyoudai follows Mutta Nanba and his younger brother Hibito, whose lives are defined by a childhood promise made in the summer of 2006. After the two boys glimpse what they believe is a UFO streaking toward the Moon, they decide on their future paths: Hibito will aim for the Moon, while Mutta, convinced that the older brother should always stay one step ahead, will reach for Mars. Years later, that vow still hangs over them. Mutta has fallen into a dull routine at an automotive company, far from the dream he once shared with his brother, while Hibito is steadily moving toward his goal of becoming the first Japanese man to set foot on the Moon. When Mutta loses his job, the setback becomes a rare opening. JAXA accepts him for the next astronaut selection, giving the brother who has drifted furthest from his ambition a chance to start over. As he faces self-doubt, pressure, and the burden of a promise made 19 years earlier, Mutta must decide whether he can keep going when he feels least qualified to do so. The series turns his struggle into a grounded, hopeful story about perseverance, family, and the stubborn belief that an ordinary person can still reach for the stars.
