Yorushika (ヨルシカ)

Yorushika (ヨルシカ) is a Japanese music duo formed in April 2017 by composer n-buna and vocalist suis. Before the group's formation, n-buna had been active as a Vocaloid producer since 2012. During that period, suis recorded guide vocals for songs he provided to other artists and also appeared as a vocalist at his one-man live shows. Signed to U&R Records, Yorushika was created as n-buna moved from Vocaloid toward expression through the human voice. The duo opened its discography with the mini albums 『夏草が邪魔をする』 in 2017 and 『負け犬にアンコールはいらない』 in 2018. In 2019, they released the full albums 『だから僕は音楽を辞めた』 and 『エルマ』, with the latter marking their major debut. Their music combines expressive vocals with guitar-driven arrangements and emotionally charged songwriting. The sound sits between alternative rock and melodic pop, and the lyrics often draw on literature, love, and human emotion. Yorushika won Best 5 New Artists at the 34th Japan Gold Disc Awards in 2020. They later released 『盗作』, the EP 『創作』, and the music picture book 『幻燈』. For Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu, the duo performed "斜陽" as an opening theme, while "Shayou (斜陽)" and "Akane" were used as ending themes. They also performed "Aporia (アポリア)" for Chi. Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite, "Kaze no Anthem" for Witch Hat Atelier, and "Abuku (あぶく)" for Liar Game. In 2023, LIVE 2023「前世」 brought the duo to Nippon Budokan and Osaka-jō Hall for the first time. In 2024, they released the digital single "晴る" for the second cour of 葬送のフリーレン.
