Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu

A Whisker Away follows Miyo Sasaki, a high school girl who feels shut out by her fractured family and increasingly drawn to her classmate Kento Hinode. Unable to express her feelings honestly, she stumbles across a strange way to transform into a white cat, and that new form gives her what everyday life does not: freedom, distance, and a chance to stay close to Kento without having to face her own emotions. As Miyo slips between her human life and her secret cat identity, she begins to see that Kento is carrying burdens of his own, including the pain and isolation hidden behind his reserved demeanor. What begins as an escape slowly turns into a test of trust, empathy, and self-acceptance, as Miyo has to decide whether hiding behind a mask can ever create a real connection. A Whisker Away blends fantasy, romance, and coming-of-age drama into a gentle but bittersweet story about loneliness, communication, and the courage it takes to be seen as oneself.
