Uru

Uru is a Japanese singer-songwriter signed to SMAR. Her music blends J-pop and ballad-driven songwriting with atmospheric arrangements built around her clear, emotional voice. She emerged in the mid-2010s. In 2013, she opened her YouTube channel and began uploading covers and original songs, handling the singing, keyboard performance, arrangements, programming, filming, and editing herself. By her major debut in June 2016, she had released 100 videos, surpassed 44 million total views, and attracted more than 140,000 subscribers. She made that debut on June 15, 2016 with the single 「星の中の君」 through Sony Music Associated Records, while keeping personal details such as her real name, date of birth, and birthplace private. Her songs often return to vulnerability, separation, and quiet resilience. Their emphasis on melody, restraint, and intimate storytelling gives her work a cinematic quality that has made it well suited to anime, television, and film themes. She performed "Freesia (フリージア)," the ED for "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans," and later sang "Kamihitoe (紙一重)" for "Jigokuraku," "Ambivalent (アンビバレント)" for "Kusuriya no Hitorigoto," and "Platform (プラットフォーム)" for "Towa no Yuugure." Her first original album, 『モノクローム』, was released in 2017, followed by 『オリオンブルー』 in 2020. Her later theme work has included the anime film theme song for The Keeper of the Camphor Tree and music tied to Dusk Beyond the End of the World.
