In Towa no Yuugure, high school student Akira Himegami wakes from a long cryogenic sleep to find the world he knew shattered by war. The city he once knew lies in ruins, society is now governed by an organization called OWEL, and the old idea of marriage has been replaced by a new system known as "Elsie." Cut off from the life he once knew, Akira must navigate a future whose customs and values feel almost alien.
His search for answers takes an unexpected turn when he meets Yuugure, a girl who looks strikingly like his girlfriend Towasa. When Yuugure gently asks, "Akira... please marry me," he is caught between disbelief and the desperate hope that Towasa may still be alive somewhere in this changed world. Choosing to travel with Yuugure, Akira begins a journey through a society reshaped by conflict, OWEL’s rules, and unfamiliar ways of understanding love. Along the way, he encounters different expressions of affection in this era and slowly comes to question what binds people together, how memories survive change, and whether the future can still make room for the feelings left behind.
