Biography

SCREEN mode is a Japanese music unit formed in 2013 by sound producer Masatomo Ota, credited as Masatomo, and voice actor Yuu Hayashi, credited as YOU. As a duo, SCREEN mode combines Ota's production background with Hayashi's vocal performance, creating a project that sits between studio craft and character-driven singing. Ota is best known for his work producing music for voice actress Yukari Tamura, and that experience helps define the polished, performance-focused side of the group. Hayashi provides the singing voice of the unit, giving SCREEN mode a clear vocal identity while keeping its sound anchored in pop-oriented anison. The group is based in Japan and is associated with Lantis, which places it firmly within the anime music ecosystem. SCREEN mode is best known for theme-song work rather than a broad mainstream pop career, which makes its releases especially relevant to listeners following TV anime credits. Their first single, Gekkou STORY (月光STORY), was used as the ending theme for the fall 2013 TV anime Gingitsune, giving the duo an early and direct association with anime music. That debut link to Gingitsune remains the clearest entry point for understanding SCREEN mode's relationship with anime theme songs.
