MAN WITH A MISSION

MAN WITH A MISSION is a Japanese five-member rock band from Shibuya, Tokyo, also known as MWAM. Formed on 7 March 2010, the group works in j-rock and is signed to Sony Music Records. The lineup features Tokyo Tanaka on lead vocals, Jean-Ken Johnny on co-lead vocals, raps, guitar, lyricist and composer duties, Kamikaze Boy on bass, backing vocals, lyricist and composer duties, DJ Santa Monica on sampling and keyboard, and Spear Rib on drums. In concerts and music videos, the members appear in differently designed wolf-headed masks, and their songs combine heavy guitars, rap sections, and big hooks. The band’s official concept places its origin in the year 19XX, when the earth is engulfed in war and a genius biologist named Dr. Jimi, working in Ladyland, creates a pack of superior creatures called MAN WITH A MISSION. The project was officially announced on 7 March 2010, when the band played its first live show at Shibuya eggman. That year it released the music video for "DON'T LOSE YOURSELF", sold the venue-only self-produced single "MAN WITH A MISSION", made its nationwide debut with the mini album WELCOME TO THE NEWWORLD through FROM YOUTH TO DEATH RECORDS, and began a four-date U.S. tour on 17 November 2010. In 2011 the group issued "RAIN OF JULY" as a charity single after the Great East Japan Earthquake, announced its major debut on 28 April, and released the album MAN WITH A MISSION on 8 June through CROWN STONES. Anime theme songs have remained a prominent part of the band’s work. MAN WITH A MISSION performed "database feat. TAKUMA(10-FEET)" for "Log Horizon", "Raise your flag" for "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans", "My Hero" for "Inuyashiki", "Winding Road" for "Golden Kamuy", "Dark Crow" for "Vinland Saga", "Merry-Go-Round" for "Boku no Hero Academia", and both "Kizuna no Kiseki (絆ノ奇跡)" and "Koi Kogare (コイコガレ)" for "Kimetsu no Yaiba".
