Creepy Nuts is a Japanese hip-hop unit formed in 2013, built around the contrasting strengths of MC R-Shitei and DJ Matsunaga. The duo became known for pairing battle-tested rap skills with technical turntablism, making them one of the most recognizable acts in contemporary Japanese hip-hop.
The group made its major debut under Sony Music Entertainment Japan on November 8, 2017, with the single "Koukou Debut, Daigaku Debut, Zenbu Shippaishitakedo Major Debut." That release marked a key step in their career, bringing their underground credibility into the mainstream while keeping the competitive energy that defined their early work.
R-Shitei, whose real name is Kyohei Nogami, established himself as one of Japan's strongest MC battlers before the group's major-label breakthrough. He won the country's top MC battle tournament, "ULTIMATE MC BATTLE," for five consecutive years from 2010 to 2014, and also took the "GRAND CHAMPION" title, recognized as the best in Japan, for three consecutive years from 2012 to 2014.
DJ Matsunaga, whose real name is Kunihiko Matsunaga, has also built a major reputation through competition. On August 24, 2019, he won the "DMC JAPAN DJ CHAMPIONSHIPS 2019 FINAL" battle category, and on September 28 of the same year he represented Japan in the battle division at the "DMC WORLD DJ CHAMPIONSHIPS 2019," where he won the championship. Together, Creepy Nuts combines lyrical skill, DJ precision, and a strong live-performance identity that continues to define the unit's appeal.
