Call of the Night

Call of the Night follows Ko Yamori, a high school boy who has drifted away from the routines of school and sleep and now spends his nights wandering the city alone. One evening he meets Nazuna Nanakusa, a free-spirited vampire who introduces him to the allure of the nocturnal world, where darkness feels less like a threat and more like a place to breathe. Drawn in by her strange honesty and the quiet freedom of the night, Ko decides he wants to become a vampire too, but doing so is not as simple as being bitten. As Ko and Nazuna spend more nights together, Call of the Night balances an uneasy supernatural romance with a laid-back urban fantasy mood, following the push and pull between human life and the promise of escape. Their growing closeness draws in other figures from the night, each one adding new complications to the world they share and to Ko’s understanding of what he wants from his future. The result is a story about loneliness, curiosity, and the seductive calm of staying awake until dawn.
