Mahoutsukai no Yome

The Ancient Magus' Bride centers on Chise Hatori, a 15-year-old Japanese girl who has known abandonment from a young age and ridicule from her peers for her unconventional behavior. With no home and little hope left, she allows herself to be sold for five million pounds at an auction, willing to go with any buyer if it means finally having a place to return to. As she is led away in chains toward an unknown fate, robed men whisper in surprise and frustration that such a buyer has obtained a rare Sleigh Beggy. The tall masked gentleman who purchased her brings her to a study, reveals himself as the magus Elias Ainsworth, and, after a brief confrontation and a burst of teleportation magic, opens her eyes to his picturesque cottage in rural England. Greeted by fairies and other weird and wonderful beings, Chise begins a new life shaped by the ancient magus's guidance, learning the rules of a hidden world where sorcery, strange creatures, and fragile human feelings constantly overlap. As his apprentice and supposed bride, she must decide whether this uncanny home can truly become a place of belonging, and whether the magic around her can help her build a future she was never allowed to imagine. From that beginning, the franchise broadens through her bond with Elias, the presence of companions such as Silky and Ruth, and the danger posed by Cartaphilus, expanding the story beyond the cottage into the darker reaches of Britain's magical world without losing its focus on loneliness, trust, and the cost of being wanted.
