Yuiko Oohara

Yuiko Oohara is a Japanese singer-songwriter born on February 5, 1992, in Chiba Prefecture. She began attending music classes at the age of three and later played violin in her elementary school orchestra. While studying at a music vocational school, she started writing her own lyrics and music. Active as a singer-songwriter since 2012, she first performed mainly at live houses in Tokyo. That same early period brought several contest results: she reached the finals of the LOTTE Sony Music "歌のあるガム" project 2012 major debut contest, became a finalist in Miss iD 2015, and received a judges' special prize for "Yubiori" on the NOTTV program "MUSIC にゅっと。". In 2015, she changed her credited name from 大原由衣子 to 大原ゆい子 and made her major debut on TOHO animation RECORDS, part of Toho Animation, with the single "Magic Parade". Since that debut, she has remained closely associated with anime music, singing themes for Little Witch Academia, Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san, Houseki no Kuni, Hanebado!, and Mushoku Tensei. The last of these featured a long run of her openings and endings, including "Tabibito no Uta (旅人の唄)", "Only (オンリー)", and "Mebuki no Uta". Her work favors emotional warmth, clear melodies, and a pop sensibility shaped for television openings and endings. Delicate vocal phrasing, acoustic textures, gentle movement, and a strong melodic, hook-driven focus run through her songs, which emphasize accessibility and feeling in a reflective singer-songwriter style that bridges everyday pop writing and anime storytelling.
