Little Witch Academia follows Atsuko "Akko" Kagari, a stubborn girl who enrolls at Luna Nova Magical Academy with no magical background but an unshakable admiration for her idol, the renowned witch Shiny Chariot. Inspired by Chariot's words, "A believing heart is your magic!", Akko believes she can become a witch who makes people smile, even when her classmates doubt that such a dream is realistic. At Luna Nova, Akko's reckless determination immediately collides with the school's strict traditions. On the way to her new life, she befriends the shy Lotte Yansson and the sarcastic Sucy Manbavaran, two girls who become her closest companions as she struggles through lessons, mishaps, and constant embarrassment. When she discovers Chariot's wand, the Shiny Rod, she throws herself into proving that effort can rival talent, especially against her self-proclaimed rival, the beautiful and gifted Diana Cavendish.
