Biography
Wake Up, Girls! is a Japanese seiyuu unit formed through the 2nd Anisong Vocal Audition in 2012, organized by Avex and 81 Produce. Created as the music and voice cast unit for the Wake Up, Girls! anime project, the group was built from the start around the connection between anime storytelling, character performance, and anisong culture.
The unit officially began activities on April 1, 2013, and was introduced to the public on July 28 at Wonder Festival 2013 [Summer]. Their singles and albums were released through DIVE II Entertainment, and their catalog centers on energetic pop and character-driven performances designed for anime audiences.
The lineup included Mayu Yoshioka, Airi Eino, Minami Tanaka, Yoshino Aoyama, Nanami Yamashita, Kaya Okuno, and Miyu Takagi. Working as both voice actors and singers, the members gave the project a strong link between character work and live music performance.
As a seiyuu group, Wake Up, Girls! stood out for combining idol-style presentation with voice acting and anime-related music work. That blend helped define the unit’s place in the anisong scene and made it a notable name for listeners interested in anime-linked music projects.
