Sayonara Ponytail

Sayonara Ponytail is a Japanese j-pop band formed in 2011. The project first emerged through MySpace and developed around music, illustration, fictional personas, and visual storytelling. It was originally guided by the mononymous leader Yuritan, referred to as “God,” and later came under the direction of Chiitan. Over time, the lineup expanded into a large collective that has included みぃな, なっちゃん, あゆみん, 324P, ふっくん, I say Y, クロネコ, マウマウ, and メグ. The group’s work has involved vocal performance as well as lyrics, composition, arrangement, mixing, saxophone, and publicity, with the talking black cat Kuroneko serving as chief publicity officer. Its credits include Shinsekai Koukyougaku (新世界交響楽), the ending theme for Kill la Kill, and Sora mo Toberu Hazu (空も飛べるはず), the ending theme for Tsuritama. Sayonara Ponytail has also been associated with Epic Records Japan.
