OLDCODEX

OLDCODEX was a Japanese rock unit from Tokyo, formed in 2009 on Lantis. It began with Ta_2, R・O・N, YoHsKE, and 三枝和人, and made its debut on October 21, 2009 with the mini album OLDCODEX. YORKE., who had handled artwork for the project, became an official member on November 1, 2010. After R・O・N left in 2012, the unit was chiefly built around vocalist Ta_2 and visual artist YORKE., with sound and imagery developed together as a multimedia project. The group became closely associated with anime through songs for Kuroko's Basketball, Free!, God Eater, and SERVAMP, with openings and endings used in sports, action, and drama-oriented series. "Catal Rhythm (カタルリズム)" marked the group’s first long-running anime tie-in and also became the first OLDCODEX song with lyrics by YORKE. "Rage on" later became its first anime opening theme. Across its singles and albums, including CONTRAST SILVER and A Silent, within The Roar, OLDCODEX continued that run until suspending activities in 2021. The unit announced its breakup on December 27, 2021, and disbanded on May 31, 2022. "This fading blue" was released in 2022 as its final song.
