Biography

NICO Touches the Walls was a Japanese rock band formed in 2004, led by vocalist and guitarist Tatsuya Mitsumura and completed by Daisuke Furumura on guitar, Shingo Sakakura on bass, and Shotaro Tsushima on drums. From the beginning, the group shaped its identity around energetic alternative rock, melodic hooks, and a driving sound that helped it stand out in Japan’s modern rock scene. NICO Touches the Walls became especially well known to anime fans through songs used in major series such as Naruto Shippuden and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Those placements expanded the band’s reach beyond the rock audience and established it as a recognizable name in anime theme music. A key part of the band’s appeal was its balance of urgency and melody. Punchy guitars and memorable choruses gave its songs a direct impact, while the polished writing kept them accessible to both J-rock listeners and anime audiences looking for openings and ending themes that linger after the episode ends. In November 2019, NICO Touches the Walls announced that it would disband after 15 years together, closing a career that linked modern Japanese rock with some of anime’s most familiar theme songs.
