JUDY AND MARY

JUDY AND MARY were a Japanese rock band formed in February 1992 by YUKI, Yoshihito Onda, and Taiji Fujimoto. Kohta Igarashi became an official member that November, and TAKUYA joined in February 1993. Signed to Epic Records, the group blended j-pop, j-rock, and pop punk. In 1992, they released the independent album 『BE AMBITIOUS』, then made their major-label debut with the single "POWER OF LOVE" in September 1993. During the 1990s, JUDY AND MARY released albums including 『J・A・M』, 『ORANGE SUNSHINE』, and 『THE POWER SOURCE』. "Sobakasu (そばかす)" was used as the opening theme for Rurouni Kenshin, bringing the band to many anime viewers in the 1990s. After a hiatus in the late 1990s, they resumed activity with "Brand New Wave Upper Ground" in 2000. They announced their breakup on January 9, 2001, and disbanded after the final Tokyo Dome dates of the 『WARP』 tour on March 7 and 8, 2001.
