ALTIMA is a Japanese three-member music unit formed in 2011 by Maon Kurosaki (黒崎真音), rapper motsu of m.o.v.e, and Satoshi Yaginuma (八木沼悟志), also known as sat of fripSide. Built around vocals, rap, synthesizers, and composition, the group developed a J-pop, electronic, and anime-oriented pop sound shaped by Kurosaki’s singing, motsu’s rap, and sat’s synth-driven production. The project began after motsu approached sat at the Animelo Summer Live 2010 -evolution- afterparty, and ALTIMA made its stage debut as a secret guest at Animelo Summer Live 2011 -rainbow-.
ALTIMA made its major debut on December 7, 2011, when Warner Bros. Home Entertainment released the single "I'll believe", an ending theme for "Shakugan no Shana". The group later performed "ONE" for the same series, as well as "Burst The Gravity" for "Accel World" and "Fight 4 Real" for "Strike the Blood". ALTIMA announced a hiatus after its appearance at Animelo Summer Live 2016 -刻 TOKI- on August 26, 2016, then reunited for guest performances at NBCUniversal ANIME×MUSIC FESTIVAL〜25th ANNIVERSARY〜 on February 3, 2018, and NBCUniversal ANIME×MUSIC FESTIVAL〜AFTER PARTY〜 on June 24, 2018.
