Toaru Majutsu no Index

A Certain Magical Index follows Academy City, a futuristic Japanese metropolis that stands far ahead of the rest of the world in science and technology. In this city, more than three-fourths of the population are students training as espers in specialized institutions, and power is measured through a strict system of psychic ranks. Amid that highly ordered system is Touma Kamijou, a high school boy with a rank of zero and the mysterious ability "Imagine Breaker," a power in his right hand that can nullify supernatural phenomena even though no scientist can fully explain it. Touma's ordinary life is upended when he meets Index Librorum Prohibitorum, a young girl who has memorized the entirety of the forbidden grimoires. Once Index is targeted by dangerous organizations, Touma is drawn into a hidden conflict between science and magic, where magicians, secret factions, and impossible abilities collide. As he protects Index, Touma is forced to confront the unseen side of the world and the growing battles that threaten Academy City and beyond. In that collision of laboratories, occult knowledge, and hidden powers, every answer seems to expose a larger struggle, and Touma is pushed deeper into a conflict that reaches far beyond his own ordinary life.
