Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya centers on Kyon, a cynical high school student who had long given up on expecting aliens, time travelers, or espers in ordinary school life, until he meets Haruhi Suzumiya on his first day. Haruhi is brilliant, restless, and obsessed with finding something beyond the mundane world, and when Kyon casually points her toward the kind of club she wants, she drags him into helping establish the SOS Brigade, the Spreading Fun all Over the World with Haruhi Suzumiya Brigade. From there, Haruhi recruits members who seem ordinary at first glance: the quiet bookworm Yuki Nagato, the shy upperclassman Mikuru Asahina, and the endlessly upbeat Itsuki Koizumi. Each of them carries secrets tied to Haruhi, and Kyon quickly finds himself pulled into one bizarre incident after another as the brigade chases rumors, strange events, and impossible explanations. What begins as an eccentric school club becomes a story about the strange force Haruhi exerts on the world, and about Kyon’s attempts to survive a reality where the extraordinary keeps breaking through everyday life.
