In Shiki, the isolated mountain village of Sotoba is shaken when the sudden death of Megumi Shimizu is followed by a wave of unexplained fatalities. As summer settles over the town, local doctor Toshio Ozaki refuses to accept the official explanations and begins looking for a pattern in the deaths. His search pulls in teenager Natsuno Yuuki and a small circle of allies, and together they trace the mystery back to the mansion on the hill and its new residents.
From there, Shiki becomes a story of a community under siege. Fear spreads from house to house, old routines collapse, and neighbors begin to suspect one another as the body count rises. The village's quiet rhythms give way to paranoia, grief, and mounting desperation, while the supernatural force beneath the surface pushes Sotoba toward open conflict. What begins as a local mystery grows into a tense battle over survival, forcing the people of the town to decide who they are willing to trust when the nightmare reaches every doorstep.
