Biography

nangi (born July 2, 1986) is a Japanese singer-songwriter from Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Active since 2006, she works in J-pop and has been associated with tearbridge production; her official website is http://www.nangiweb.com/. Her artist name comes from a pen name she used while drawing manga in childhood, derived from her given name 「南実」. She began playing the organ as a child, started composing in the later years of elementary school, and moved into home recording after buying a keyboard and a used MTR in high school. After taking part in the Sony Music Audition in 2005, she was invited to perform the theme song for the film 『ベロニカは死ぬことにした』 and made her CD debut on February 1, 2006 with "こんな風に笑う。(film ver.)" on its soundtrack. On January 5, 2007, she opened her official website and began the LOVE FM radio program 『nangi - the life size music』. nangi made her indie debut through tearbridge production with the Tower Records-exclusive mini album 『n』 on February 14, 2007, then made her major debut on EPIC RECORDS with the mini album 『すばらしい想い』 on June 6 of the same year. She also composed music for and appeared in the film 『東京の嘘』, later released the mini album 『VIVID HEART』, and in 2009 issued "エクスプレス" as the theme song for the omnibus film 『非女子図鑑』. Her anime work includes "Walk no Yakusoku (walkの約束)", the ending theme of 『Shiki』.
