kanon x kanon is a Japanese music duo formed in 2010 by Kanon Wakeshima and Kanon. Associated with Defstar Records, the project brought together two artists from Japan’s pop and anime music scenes. Their music blended J-pop, pop-rock, and atmospheric touches into melodic pop, and their visual presentation emphasized an elegant, slightly gothic style.
The duo debuted on November 17, 2010 with the single "Calendula Requiem", the OP of "Shiki". In 2011, kanon x kanon made its first live appearance at the AM2 event in Anaheim from July 1 to 3. On October 27, it took part in a showcase at the 8th Tokyo International Music Market at Shinagawa Stella Ball for its first live performance in Japan. Later that year, from November 4 to 18, the duo toured Europe with Kanon Wakeshima on "kanon×kanon×kanon Euro Tour 2011", which visited 10 cities in seven countries.
