In Koi wa Ameagari no You ni (After the Rain), Akira Tachibana is a reserved high school student whose life stalls after a serious foot injury ends her track ambitions. Though her classmates are captivated by her quiet beauty, she keeps her distance from the boys around her and moves through school with a guarded, almost unreadable calm.
That changes when she takes a part-time job at the Garden Cafe and meets Masami Kondou, the café manager, a 45-year-old man whose composed manner and sincere attention to customers make him stand out to her. Where others see someone timid or ordinary, Akira notices the warmth in his small gestures and the steadiness he brings to everyday moments. As she spends more time working beside him, the connection between them deepens, and feelings she never expected begin to take shape.
Caught between youth, uncertainty, and the difference in their ages and circumstances, Akira must decide what these emotions mean to her. The story follows her struggle to understand her own heart, to say what she feels, and to face the risk of confessing when the answer is anything but simple.
