About the song
“Preserved Roses” is a collaboration single by T.M.Revolution × Nana Mizuki and the first opening theme for the 2013 anime Valvrave the Liberator (Kakumeiki Valvrave), produced by Sunrise. It was released in Japan on May 15, 2013 as Preserved Roses - Single.
The track mixes J-Pop and pop rock momentum with sleek electronic production. Tight synth patterns give the verses a hard, mechanical edge, while the chorus expands into a larger duet hook that trades and layers the two voices. Daisuke Asakura composed the song and arranged it with Nao Tanaka.
That sound fits a series built around school life ruptured by war and a protagonist transformed by contact with overwhelming power. Akio Inoue wrote the lyrics. The single reached No. 2 on Oricon’s weekly chart, earned a Gold certification from the RIAJ, and later appeared on Nana Mizuki’s 2014 album Supernal Liberty.
