Yuuji Ueda

Yuuji Ueda (上田 祐司, later うえだゆうじ) is a Japanese actor, voice actor, and singer born on June 15, 1967, in Fukuoka, Japan. Active since 1992, he studied theatre at Tamagawa University, worked on stage, and later entered voice acting through Arts Vision. He took his first leading television anime roles in 1996. Among them, and among the parts he is especially associated with, are Akito Tenkawa in Martian Successor Nadesico, Sagara Sanosuke in Rurouni Kenshin, Keitarō Urashima in Love Hina, and Takeshi/Brock and Sonansu/Wobbuffet in Pokémon. His music work has been closely connected to anime. In Pokémon, he sang the ending theme "Takeshi no Paradise (タケシのパラダイス)". In Detroit Metal City, he voiced Soichi Negishi and the persona Johannes Krauser II, and also performed the opening theme "Satsugai". Ueda originally worked under the kanji name 上田 祐司 before adopting the hiragana form うえだゆうじ in 2004. Outside acting, he has listed music, photography, and violin among his hobbies, has experience in tate, and is married to voice actress Omi Minami.
