Biography

T-Pistonz+KMC is a Japanese pop group formed in August 2008 around the four-piece punk rock band 豚骨ピストンズ to perform theme songs for the Nintendo DS game Inazuma Eleven and its anime adaptation. The project first emerged on Up-Front Group’s hachama imprint and later became associated with Avex Group and Avex Trax through Level-5’s "FRAME" label. Built as a performance unit rather than a conventional band, the group combined pop melodies, rap, fast hooks, strong rhythm, memorable choruses, choreography, and a playful stage presence for anime- and game-related music projects. The lineup has included Ton-Nino as lead vocalist, KMC as rapper, In-Chiquita as dancer and choreographer, and Hiroshi Dot as side vocalist and dancer. KMC joined in June 2009 for the single "Maji de kansha!", after which the unit began working under the name T-Pistonz+KMC. It went on to perform a long run of opening themes for "Inazuma Eleven", from "Tachiagariyo" to "Ohayou! Shining Day (おはよう!シャイニング・デイ)", and continued as an opening-theme act for "Inazuma Eleven GO" after the original television series ended in 2011. In March 2010, the fifth single "Katte nakou ze!" reached No. 4 on the Oricon weekly chart. The group announced a hiatus on September 16, 2014 and suspended activities on November 30, 2014.
