Shounan no Kaze

Shounan no Kaze is a Japanese reggae group formed in 2001 and active since 2001. The group includes GOKI, HAN-KUN, RED RICE, SHOCK EYE, and 若旦那. Its music blends reggae with pop, dancehall, hip-hop, and ska punk, and its songs range from party tracks to more reflective material. Its catalog also includes the opening theme "Grand Blue" for Grand Blue. Before the group came together, HAN-KUN and RED RICE were active in Shonan. They later joined with SHOCK EYE and 若旦那, and in 2001 launched the indie label 134LABEL. The self-produced mixtape "湘南の風" gave the group its name. Shounan no Kaze was formally organized in 2002, made its major debut on Toy's Factory with the 2003 album "湘南乃風〜Real Riders〜", and released its first single "応援歌/風" in 2004. The group later operated its own label 134 Recordings. Among its major releases, the 2006 single "純恋歌" sold more than 600,000 copies in Japan. Shounan no Kaze marked its tenth anniversary with the 2013 album "湘南乃風〜2023〜" and the Yokohama Stadium concert "十周年記念 横浜スタジアム伝説". After its 2018 tour, the group paused activities while the members focused on solo work. It resumed in 2020 with "一番歌", a collaboration with 中田ヤスタカ created for "龍が如く7 光と闇の行方", followed by the album "湘南乃風〜四方戦風〜". In 2023, Shounan no Kaze celebrated its 20th anniversary with the 日本武道館 concert "新・春・狂・乱", the best album "湘南乃風〜20th Anniversary BEST〜", and the Yokohama Stadium show "風祭り at 横浜スタジアム", where it performed in a band format for the first time.
