Grand Blue

In Grand Blue, Iori Kitahara leaves home for university in the coastal town of Izu and moves into the room above Grand Blue, his uncle's scuba diving shop. What he expects to be an ideal freshman life quickly turns into a nonstop mess when he gets pulled into the local diving club's chaotic, often alcohol-fueled routine. His upperclassmen, Shinji Tokita and Ryuujirou Kotobuki, are as loud and unpredictable as they are welcoming, and they drag Iori into one absurd situation after another while he tries to hold on to any trace of dignity. Adding to his misery, his cousin Chisa Kotegawa keeps seeing his worst moments and immediately grows disgusted by his antics, making every interaction between them even more awkward. Based on the manga by Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka, Grand Blue balances wild campus comedy with a real interest in scuba diving, letting Iori stumble between university life, ridiculous friendships, and the practical side of the sport. Set along the Japanese coast, the series follows how unexpected bonds can form in the middle of the most chaotic and embarrassing circumstances.
