Shiro Sagisu

Shiro Sagisu is a Japanese composer, arranger, and record producer from Setagaya, Japan, born on August 29, 1957. Also known by his Japanese name 鷺巣詩郎, he is widely recognized for large-scale work in anime, film, and television, with especially influential scores for Neon Genesis Evangelion and Bleach. His music often combines orchestral writing, choral power, electronic textures, and the energy of J-pop and J-rock, giving his sound a dramatic range that fits both intimate character scenes and high-impact action. Across a career spanning several decades, Sagisu has become one of the most distinctive names in anime composition. His scores are known for cinematic scale and strong thematic structure, moving fluidly between atmospheric cues, battle themes, and emotionally direct melodies. That versatility has made him a key figure for listeners searching for anime music connected to Evangelion, Bleach, and other screen projects, and his catalog continues to define how anime soundtracks can blend emotion, style, and memorable identity.
