Shihoko Hirata

Shihoko Hirata is a Japanese singer raised in Kanagawa. Her work brings together classical training with soul, gospel, and contemporary vocal performance. She studied classical piano from childhood, then turned toward singing in her early teens after discovering 1970s and 1990s soul music. That shift shaped the warm, expressive tone central to her work. During college, Hirata joined a band and began pursuing music more seriously, moving from a broad instrumental background into a more focused vocal path. In 2002, she enrolled at the Soul Bird Musical School to study gospel. In 2003, she continued her vocal training under Mineko Yamashita. Through her work on Persona, Hirata became associated with Japanese pop, soundtrack performance, and anime and game music. She performed the openings "Pursuing My True Self", "sky's the limit", and "key plus words", along with the endings "Beauty of Destiny", "Honto no Kimochi (ほんとのきもち)", and "Never More". Her musical profile reflects a gradual evolution from classical piano to a voice-led approach grounded in soul and gospel influences.
