Savage Garden were an Australian pop duo consisting of Darren Hayes as vocalist and Daniel Jones as instrumentalist. Formed in Logan City, Queensland in 1993, the pair built a polished pop sound that brought them international attention in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The duo became known for a run of worldwide hit singles, including "I Want You", "To the Moon and Back", "Truly Madly Deeply", "The Animal Song" and "I Knew I Loved You". These songs helped establish Savage Garden as one of the era's defining pop acts and gave the group a strong presence on radio and charts around the world.
Savage Garden released two studio albums, Savage Garden and Affirmation, both of which reached number one in Australia and peaked in the top ten in the United Kingdom and the United States. Their debut era was especially successful, with the group winning a record ten ARIA Music Awards in 1997 for the album and its related singles.
The duo disbanded in 2002, closing a relatively short but highly successful career. Even so, Savage Garden remains closely associated with late-1990s pop and with a catalogue of singles that continue to be widely recognized.
