Biography

Ryokuoushoku Shakai (緑黄色社会) is a Japanese four-piece pop rock band from Aichi, formed in 2012 by four friends, three of whom were classmates. The group features Haruko Nagaya on vocals, Issei Kobayashi on guitar, Peppe on keyboards, and Shingo Anami on bass, and its music blends J-pop accessibility with j-rock energy, bright melodies, and polished arrangements. Early in their career, Ryokuoushoku Shakai drew wider attention by finishing second in the 2013 SCHOOL OF LOCK! x Sony Music 10dai Ongaku Festival “Senkou Riot.” That early breakthrough helped set the stage for a steady rise, and the band has since continued to build a reputation for strong hooks, clean production, and emotionally direct songwriting. Ryokuoushoku Shakai is signed to Epic Records Japan and has become especially familiar to anime listeners through anime-related projects and theme songs, expanding its reach beyond its core fanbase. In 2026, the band also announced its sixth original album, あたまご, scheduled for release in September, underscoring its continued activity and momentum. As a live band and recording unit, Ryokuoushoku Shakai stands out for balancing mainstream pop sensibility with modern rock roots while keeping Haruko Nagaya’s expressive vocals at the center of its sound.
