ON/OFF

ON/OFF was a Japanese J-pop vocal duo formed in 2001 by twin brothers Naoya Sakamoto and Kazuya Sakamoto, both born on December 10, 1983. The pair began performing in Fukuoka, adopted the name ON/OFF in October 2005, and developed a style rooted in Japanese pop and anison, with polished two-part harmonies, dramatic melodies, and a blend of J-pop and pop-rock energy. After a one-man live at Zepp Fukuoka at the end of 2006, they moved to Tokyo, performed street lives, and appeared in the 2007 television drama "風魔の小次郎". ON/OFF made its major debut on November 21, 2007, when SONY MUSIC released the single "Eien no Setsuna", the drama's ending theme. The duo later released music on Defstar Records and performed songs for anime including "Butterfly", the ending theme of "Durarara!!", and "Hajimaru no wa, Sayonara", the opening theme of "Beelzebub". ON/OFF announced its breakup on December 24, 2014 because of Kazuya Sakamoto's health problems, and gave its final live, "新春双子伝説Vol.67〜最終章完結編〜", on January 3, 2015.
