Biography

Nothing's Carved In Stone is a Japanese rock band formed in 2008, built around the collaboration of Taku Muramatsu on vocals and guitar, Shinichi Ubukata on guitar, Hidekazu Hinata on bass, and Takanori Ohkita on drums. The group came together after ELLEGARDEN went on hiatus, when Ubukata began session work with Hinata and Ohkita before Muramatsu joined as vocalist. From the beginning, the band stood out for its precise playing, strong ensemble chemistry, and energetic live performances. Their music is rooted in rock, with a sound shaped by technical musicianship, driving rhythms, and memorable melodic lines. That balance of intensity and clarity has helped define their identity within Japan's rock scene. Nothing's Carved In Stone made its album debut with PARALLEL LIVES in 2009, establishing the band as a serious new project rather than a short-term collaboration. The members' backgrounds in ELLEGARDEN, STRAIGHTENER, FULLARMOR, and ABSTRACT MASH also helped shape the group's approach to writing and performance, giving the band a distinct place among Japanese rock acts. Over time, the group has continued to build a reputation around disciplined musicianship and a live sound that emphasizes both power and precision. For listeners looking for a Japanese rock band with strong instrumental work and a clear identity, Nothing's Carved In Stone remains a notable name.
