Nana Kitade (北出 菜奈, born May 2, 1987 in Sapporo, Hokkaidō) is a Japanese singer-songwriter and musician. After moving to Tokyo from Sapporo, she debuted in 2003 and was signed to Sony Music Japan. She emerged as a teenage J-rock solo artist with a dark, melodic style built around rock energy, sharp hooks, and emotional lyrics, with a visual identity closely associated with gothic lolita fashion.
Since her debut, she has written all of her lyrics. Susumu Nishikawa and Akimitsu Homma handled almost all of the compositions for her music. Kitade learned piano from early childhood and later taught herself guitar.
Her first single, "Kesenai Tsumi (消せない罪)," was released on October 29, 2003 and served as the ED of "Fullmetal Alchemist". Her solo discography includes the albums "18 -eighteen-", "I scream", and "Bondage". It also includes the best album "Berry Berry SINGLES" and the Ruby Gloom release "サイレン".
After pausing her solo activity in 2009, she worked in Loveless and later became the lead singer of THE TEENAGE KISSERS before resuming solo activities in 2016.
She also appeared at overseas events in Hong Kong, the United States, France, and Germany, followed by a European tour in 2011. Alongside her music, she was active as a model, actress, and fashion designer, and her performances and visual presentation connected her work with alternative pop culture and the Lolita scene.
